I am Damaris and a student of an interdisciplinary master called "Culture and Environment in Africa" at the university of Cologne.

I am happy to be able to do the research for my master thesis in South Africa, Cape Town. I am interested in District Six as an urban common and the formation of so-called "rights communities" in the context of contemporary restitution claims.

My research in District Six started slowly but surely and my topic about the restitution claims was more than interesting. The manager of collections and research of the District Six Museum provided me with a lot of contacts and information that helped the proceeding of my fieldwork immensely.
