Research Project: The role of the soy exporters and their relationship with other soy value chain actors in Rosario, Argentina.

My name is Juan Arrarás and I am an Argentinian Researcher (Universidad Nacional de San Martín, Centro de Estudios Sociales de la Economía, Universidad Nacional de Lanús), Professor in Universidad Nacional de Lanús and Ph.D. student in Sociology at Instituto de Altos Estudios Sociales - Universidad Nacional de San Martín in Buenos Aires, Argentina. My research project is about the role of soy exporters and their relationship with other actors of the soy value chain in the zone known as Up River, in Rosario, Argentina.

During my two-months stay in Cologne, I had the opportunity to attend the workshop “Supermarketization” (8-11th November) organized by Javier Revilla Diez from the Department of Geography.  It was an enriching opportunity to share time with colleagues who studied different value chains from other parts of the world. Also, during my days in Cologne, I attended to different Public Lectures organized by the Department of Iberian and Latin American History and I worked on my thesis in the GSSC and the Institute of Geography’s office.

I understand that my stay in Cologne will be a pivotal moment in my career as a Researcher. For this reason, I want to thank the GSSC -especially to Ulrike Wesch-, the Institute of Geography –in particular to Javier Revilla Diez, Andreas Bratch and Moritz Breul- and JohanaCaterina Mantilla from the Department of Iberian and Latin American History for the unique and stimulating experience lived during my days in Cologne.
