Research Project:
The Yamuna floodplain in New Delhi, India

Hello, my name is Shobhika Bhadu and I am a PhD student at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, India.

My study is about the Yamuna floodplain in Delhi, how the extent of floodplain is changing over time and changes in economic activities over floodplain in the stretch lying in Delhi. I try to find out the impact of urbanization process on the ecologically sensitive zone of floodplain and how governing and planning agencies are managing the construction activities over floodplain.

I spent ten days in Cologne and attended the “Academic Writing Workshop” organized by Koln University and sponsored by DAAD student exchange program. I am grateful to DAAD for providing me this opportunity. I learned the nitty gritty of academic writing and skills for presentation. It was very interactive learning process.

I had an amazing experience at Cologne University. I learned a lot of things in Germany and made new friends from Germany, Argentina and China.
